Scary Camp Adventure Day 1!

So tomorrow is the start of the Monster High Scary Camp 31 Day challenge. I'm actually pretty excited over this little contest, but because I know within a month's time, I'll have refined my Monster High drawing style.

I think I have a good handle on the style as it is.. I've been practicing, and taking notes! *shows her sketchbook page of notes* I've been wanting to learn how to draw in this particular style for some time now... I can't believe I've waited this long to figure it out...

Anyway-- my first entry is the introduction of my MH OC in camp attire. I wasn't entirely sure what to run with.... so hopefully this will suffice.

 I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate EVERY day of this challenge, but I'm going to try to see if I can.

I'm pretty happy with the way this came out... A small few things I need to fix are her hands... MH hands tends to look more like anime hands... I suck with hands in general, so.... ^^;

And then I still did a Bruce Timm style of body...  I'm just so used to drawing in that style (well now it's really a modified version of the BT style) that it's a bit tough of a habit to break. I'll get there eventually though.

Hmm.

Oh.. so I was stung by a bee today..

Cheeyeeeah.

That sucked pretty bad.

Tonight is Alisa's little birthday party thingy.  She says it's more like a get together... which is totally fine by me!

The Sun is Bright....

So after creating my Monster High OC the other day i thought it a good idea to make a Facebook profile for it...

WHY a good idea you ask?

Well, apparently Monster High OCs are favorite subjects of art thieves these days and tend to not only get yanked by some Lame-wad who thinks it's cool to claim that other people's hard work is theirs, but also like to make Facebook profiles for them and post around doing Hera knows what...

SO I went ahead and threw up a profile for her...

Maybe she'll bounce around and find some Monster High 'friends' of her sitting around.

I'm half wondering if things can work out on FB like how they did years ago on Myspace....

That would be killer. :3

Also.... it appears that I have figured out (FINALLY!) how to get a grips on drawing within the Monster High style! *dances around, all kinds of happy* Seems that my character studying has paid off. 

And one of the neatest things is that I'll be able to put all of those new found techniques to good use here soon. A group over on DA is planning on running a 31 day drawing challenge set in the Monster High Universe with a Summer Camp theme.

The Fun Starts here!!

I figured entering this contest will do nothing but further enforce the drawing stylization to help me better perfect things (at the level I'd like to be at). Unlike NNTM was a year ago (and the year previous), this one isn't an elimination contest... so that should be interesting...

Not sure if I'll be able to do this EVERYday, but I'm sure going to try... Hopefully I can fair pretty well in the sea of contestants...

The winner, at the end, will end up winning a Monster High doll! :D

Maybe I can add another edition to my growing force...

Virus Detected!

Well, it seems that i finally was able to get off of my lazy butt and FINALLY getting around to completing something I've been wanting to complete for some time now.

A Monster High OC!

I can't be more proud of this particular gem. She's... like... ME in the Monster High universe!  And how could you not love an Oracle incarnate into another fandom? ♥

I had a time coming up with a name with her. At first I was going to settle with Elvira Riz... but everytime I would say her first name I would go to think about Elvira Mistress of the Dark. (I love her! She's one of my favorite iconic character/peoples.) And I wanted her name to be a play on the word "Virus" so... my options were slim.

I then got to thinking that I had a few manifested characters channeling me with the name of V or Vee. So... I figured this was the more logical step.

Considering I'm a cyber fanatic and graduated with an ISS degree--[I miss my hacking classes. Those were fun...] I figured I would pay tribute to one of the most interesting guys who has ever become a hacker-- Kevin Mitnick. ♥

So taking myself plus Kevin Mitnick? Equals Vee Iris!!

Also today-- I learned how to draw in the Monster High style. Woohoo!!

I didn't exactly apply that technique with this particular profile, which is totally fine with me... At least this way the orginal profile of the character can have a Bruce Timmy slash doodled slash Monster High stylized look and feel to it.

Either way, I'm quite pleased!

I think I might just have to write up a mini origin fic on how this one came to be... And then I'll be in business! *dramatic pose*

STUPID PIXELS!!

Two Months!

First "official" post on this new blogging place... And a solemn promise to myself... I've been avoiding doing the online journaling thing for quite a while. I think it's about time I stop being a recluse. Every now and then I try to make myself come out of the pit of silence, but it never lasts long... THIS time? Yeah.. no.. We're going to try and keep things up on a more regular basis.

In regards to the title-- TWO MORE MONTHS and I'll be in geek heaven! Unable to attend San Diego ComicCon this year, at least I was able to snag a ticket to attend Power Morphicon!

Yup. That's right! The Premiere Power Rangers Convention!

It'll be my first time attending and I'm pretty stoked!

I shall be attending as one of my favorite characters. Marah from Power Rangers Ninja Storm!

 I managed to finish sewing all of the necessary items the other night.. so now I just need to focus on the few parts to the headpiece and some kind of attachments for the armband and... other small things.

It's almost complete! I'll try to get some photos up here soon enough.

At least this way if I finish the costume mega early, I'll have more time for tweeks and all of that.
